He saved a life. But, they did say he was a dangerous fugitive. How dangerous is depending on what he did. But if he was dangerous I don't think he would have saved the officer he would have taken off the cuffs and left.

he shouldn’t get reduced sentence because one good act doesn’t make his bad actions that got him there any better BUT i think they should give him the chance to get out early with good behaviour (and no more trying to escape obv)
