My (adoptive) parents were *flabbergasted* when I wasn't surprised about the reveal at the end of the Sixth Sense when they showed it to me for the first time as a teen because I didn't even realize it was meant to be a plot twist because I caught on so early on in the movie 😅

I mean, when ALL of storytelling can be accurately broken down into twenty-eight major plot tropes with all sub-tropes being a combination therein, anyone with pattern recognition just sees the point faster. It honestly blows my mind that being seemingly clairvoyant doesn't necessarily translate to better writing. ( personally. )

the one time my adhd bf couldn’t predict something was when we were watching steven universe and they’re trying to figure out the activation phrase for roses light cannon, and it ends up being “if every pork chop were perfect we wouldn’t have hot dogs” bro had to pause the show and have a moment bc he was so caught off guard for once lmao
