Lawyer here and recommending to don’t do that kind of things. I know it’s “funny”, but Venmo requests are the problem. Asking someone for money attached to ‘I have proof you’re guilty’ is literally the definition of extortion/blackmail in most states, and it doesn’t matter if you were joking or if you never expected to get paid. The demand IS the crime. Add Patrick is considered as witness in an actual case and you’re now in witness intimidation territory (18 U.S.C. §1512 federally) which is a felony. Venmo keeps every request forever and hands it over on a subpoena. Calling someone a murderer publicly is defamation per se on top of it.
