do any amount of research and it will show you goldfish are horrible to use in stock tanks. mosquito fish work just fine and they don’t produce a ton of ammonia.

do people know that cattle can eat nitrogen and be fine? as long as it's not super large volumes it's good for them as it feeds the bacteria in their rumen.

Put underwater plants. It absorbs nitrates that the bacteria in the water make from ammonia. Do weekly water changes. Boom it’s not a problem

Oh because i forgot wildlife only uses bottled water as if freshwater lakes, ponds rivers streams have been water sources for animals since creation that have fish in them lol

Tbh, fish need oxygenation ,and when the cow is licking the water creating ripples it is oxygenating the water so maybe the goldfish’s are just up there rly needing the oxygen, sad 😢

In the aquarium industry, Goldfish are some of the dirtiest fish, they poop the most and cause the worst algae blooms.

Put some copper in the trough...a big enough piece will clean the water, kill the mosquito larvae and sterilize the water. No fish or chemicals needed. Silver will do the same. Ranchers have been doing this for centuries.

Do people think troughs never get refilled? Yes the fish produce waste but troughs get filled daily or every couple days depending on the volume and number of animals. Constant refilling plus the fact that cows are drinking a lot of that water, never lets the waste build up to high enough levels to harm the livestock.

Yes I’d love the poopiest fish in my water bowl🤦🏽♀️never understood how people will go all day working on the farm but cleaning something out with soap and water once a week is just too much. “They drink out of ponds” okay? Ponds have a balanced ecosystem and usually more than one kind of fish and plants that keep them clean, let them?

drinking straight ammonia water. goldfish are extremely dirty pond fish. not meant for livestock to drink their water. it burns their throat and lungs.
