At just 14, she starred as Regan MacNeil in The Exorcist (1973). Her performance earned her a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, an extraordinary achievement for such a young performer. Afterward, she worked steadily rather than disappearing after one enormous hit. She starred in the controversial television movie Born Innocent (1974), followed by Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975). She returned as Regan in Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) and later appeared in films including Roller Boogie (1979), Hell Night (1981), and several action, horror, and exploitation films that eventually gave her a strong cult following. One surprising fact is that The Exorcist wasn't simply a matter of putting Linda in frightening makeup and filming her performance. Stunt performer Eileen Dietz doubled her for some scenes, and Mercedes McCambridge supplied the terrifying demonic voice. Linda's own performance, however, was central to making Regan believable, especially the transformation from an ordinary young girl into something horrifying. Another interesting part of her life happened away from Hollywood. She became deeply involved in animal welfare and eventually founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, which rescues and rehabilitates abused, neglected, and abandoned animals. Animal rescue became a major part of her life's work. She also made a wonderful return to her most famous movie's world in 2023, appearing briefly in The Exorcist: Believer, 50 years after the original film. It's remarkable that a performance she gave as a teenager became permanently associated with movie history, yet her life afterward has included decades of acting, television appearances, advocacy, and animal rescue. For many people she'll always be Regan, but there's much more to Linda Blair's story than The Exorcist.

Possibly the scariest movie ever made. Contains very realistic images of demonic possession. It's unknown how they moved props on set to achieve an illusion. The viewer, having no idea, is left with the unsettling impression that the footage is real. The whole production is both convincing and disturbing. Truly horrifying and shockingly graphic. The movie is so scary it shocked people in 1974 and it holds the same power in a world today of CGI and AI which is unquestionably realistic, but not used when the film was first produced. The only immunity I have from the movie's grip and influence is my personal faith in Jesus Christ, the God Who has given all true believers victory over the forces of darkness as their birthright. We are not ignorant of Satan's devices. Christians have both the power to make the Devil flee (without a Priest), and have been given divine authority to exercise power over evil spirits in order to live a godly life without interference from entities who are defeated, powerless, and so far below us in rank that their barking falls on deaf ears. In the Name of Jesus we have the victory. This is a loving gift from a 100% good heavenly Father. Praise God for his mercy and provision. There is peace from fear when you run to Jesus.
