@that_british_aviator: The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was a wide-body, three-engine commercial aircraft developed by Lockheed in the late 1960s to compete with the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. The aircraft first flew in November 1970 and entered commercial service with Eastern Air Lines in April 1972. Renowned for its advanced technology, quiet cabin and sophisticated flight systems, the TriStar was operated by airlines worldwide, including British Airways, Delta Air Lines, TWA and Cathay Pacific. However, production was affected by development delays, financial difficulties and strong competition from the DC-10. A total of 250 L-1011s were produced between 1968 and 1984. Although passenger operations eventually ceased, some aircraft continued serving in military, cargo and specialist roles. #fyp #aviation #trending #viral #trijet
