Two summers ago I was a lifeguard at a pool, and at the beginning of the season there were a couple days were I met my coworkers and clean the pool for opening day. That’s when I met her. She was a cashier and almost immediately I fell for her. She was gorgeous and what stood out about her was how friendly she was. No matter who it was, she would always choose to be kind. She was rich in experiences and emotions, but also not fucked up with bad shit going on. She was practically perfect. Throughout the summer we grew close, we called at night and texted all the time, as “friends.” I had such a good time with her, we talked and talked and talked. It felt she never couldn’t find something to talk about. As the days went on I would think about us as a couple, and I couldn’t help but wonder what we could be. Eventually I got the courage to tell her how I felt, so after we got off I walked her out to the parking lot and told her by her car that I had something to say. I then proceeded to say “ nevermind it’s not that important.” And like a dumbass I let her go home. I was so mad at myself on the way home, but just as I turned onto my street, she called me and asked if we could meet up. So I immediately drove and met her halfway in some random neighborhood, I got out of my car, and I told her… and she said… she knew and that she did have feelings for me as well and was even considering dating but that because of school coming up she didn’t want to date. And apart of me knew it would be the same for me, but the other part, my heart, knew I wanted it to be her…. Know me and her are just friends and we’ve barely talked since. I think about her every day and every time I see a video of these two and I can’t help but think of her, the one that could’ve been.
