@ranelittle: The last 24 hours have been some of the hardest we’ve faced. Last night, they tried putting Halo on CPAP, but she immediately started to decline, so they had to take her back off and put her back on high-flow oxygen. Today, she has continued to struggle to maintain her oxygen levels, with some very scary desaturations. At one point, her oxygen dropped to around 70%, and I had to call the nurse and start chest PT and suctioning while we waited for help. She currently has a nasal trumpet to help keep her airway open, as well as an NG tube to decompress her stomach. Her secretions continue to be a major concern, and managing them has been one of the biggest challenges in keeping her breathing safely. I also sat down with her doctor today to talk about her overall trajectory. We talked about how much she has changed from her baseline. Halo has always had significant hypotonia and developmental delays, but she was previously able to sit independently for very short periods of time. She has never been able to hold her head up during tummy time, but she has never been this weak. Now she cannot sit on her own, and even when she is supported, she fatigues very easily and leans. Hearing all of this discussed out loud is heartbreaking. We are still taking things one moment at a time. I don’t have a good-news update tonight. I have a little girl who is incredibly sick, and a mama who is praying with everything she has that her baby gets through this. Please, God, heal my child. 🙏🏻 Please keep Halo in your prayers tonight. Pray for her lungs, her oxygen, her ability to clear her secretions, and for her strength to return.
