if ur struggling, putting the picture in black/white and gray will help u find the right shading

I do the same with my ink drawings with one 6B pencil that I scrape on a piece of paper and dip with a q-tip (it gives it cleaner look , you can't see the pencil lines) to add deeper shadows and erase little parts for highlights
