What if I have a husband with severe mental illness and a drinking habit who lies to people about what happened? How else do I keep proof of his abuse?

The one problem is if you’re married to an abuser that is very careful about how he hurt physically, financially and emotionally and continuously tried to make you believe that conversation didn’t happen that you know happened. You have no way to get proof of what’s really going on without recording them. So in order for me to get out alive, which I rarely did I kept journals and yes, I did report every chance I got, but it wasn’t to keep him from the kids- that never been my intention. It was simply to get me to a safe place with the kid while he got help. But he refuse to admit his abusive behavior and substance abuse problem, even though everyone around him could see it.

When abuse is going on that’s what you do. I had an attorney advise to do this

My stbx has secret recordings all over the house and submits them to his attorney claiming “abuse” as my child has meltdowns. He cherry picks what he submits and interprets it the way he wants since he wasn’t actually present. Thoughts? Nothing else supports abuse

I'm not doing it secretly. I wear a body cam. Judge ruled I wasn't allowed to. I argued I do it openly to MORE false allegations. False allegations occurred. The same Judge believed them.

I was so glad to hear that domestic violence was okay to show videos of him raging because that is one of my pieces of evidence. I believe he destroyed the coparenting relationship when he broke my finger. So who cares about a video?
