Alicent had already drawn attention to Joffrey's unusual name for a Velaryon, making the question of his parentage impossible to ignore. And yet Viserys chooses to play along with the official story. What makes the moment even more fascinating is that both Viserys and Laenor were clearly aware of Joffrey's true parentage, yet neither objects to the king's comment. Laenor accepts the words without hesitation, while Viserys knowingly reinforces the illusion that Joffrey inherited his features from his supposed father. It is almost as if they are silently agreeing to protect the same secret.
