I thought this was common knowledge but it apparently is not 😅 If you ever find yourself in a situation like this where it won’t stop accelerating or your brakes aren’t working, put the car in neutral. This disconnects the engine from the wheels so even if the engine is revving, it can’t continue to push the car forward. If the accelerator is stuck, this is exactly what you need. If the brakes aren’t working, put it in neutral and use the emergency break to slow yourself (do not yank it all the way).

My Grandma drove a 1998 Toyota Corolla. In 2007, the breaks locked up and she had to run a red light. We got t-boned by a Chevy Avalanche. I won’t get into the details, but it sticks with me for sure. I’ll try to find the pic of the car after. Grannie is still kickin it right now at 96 so 🤘🏼

I’m sure he wasn’t thinking clearly in the situation, given its terrifying, but ya gotta put the shit in neutral and grind the car against the guardrail or concrete barriers once you get the speed down a little bit.
