I don't think I know anyone currently on the Lincoln. But I was on the TR during both of it's covid deployments. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 27 with no genetic history and the military says it can't connect it to my service. But my chief said I was the 15th person he knew that got cancer after being on the ship at the same time we were.

As a Navy vet who served on board an aircraft carrier, I can tell you the chemicals and solvents they are absorbing including things the civilian world would almost never be exposed to. We had JP5 (jet fuel) leaking into our potable water supply. Depending on how well their desalination plants are working, that would be everything from shower water to drinking/cooking water.

As a research coordinator, I’m pretty sure the military is a “vulnerable population” since they could be coerced easily. Does the military have its own IRB? The consents they signed should have details on what the company/study is doing with their data as well as schedule of blood draws. Also didn’t oura partner with Palantir?😳

I think you’re on the right track. I think this extended deployment was a test. the Lincoln is a carrier that can be nuclear powered meaning it can go a looooong time without refueling… like literal years. I think the testing you are talking about was/is an attempt to monitor bio markers to gauge the endurance and lab levels in hopes to come up with metrics and feasibilities to make extended deployments a normal thing. Essentially seeing how long these people can go without burning all the way out.

They swapped us to a circadian sleep schedule after . Meaning, if you work nights, you stay on nights to be allowed a consistent sleep pattern. It periodically rotated forward a shift. It meant nothing, leadership held true to the “back in my day we stayed up for a week” mentality.

I was on a carrier from 2020-2025 and we are exposed to all kinds of stuff, I was exposed to JP5, AFFF, etc. and yeah sleep kinda sucks working 12 on 12 off, sometimes even over 14 hours.

i was deployed on the nimitz when this happened. we had so much training. and our cheng changed our watch rotation to "help us" but it just made it worse.
