This "magic" Body Drag Curl variation is going to put a monster contraction on your biceps in a way that you've likely never felt before. The original body drag curl was a favorite of Vince Gironda for building the biceps. This version is a bit different in that you're going to start by doing a regular EZ bar curl. That part is about the most normal thing you've probably ever seen me do... Curl up to the top, then lock your elbows at 90 degrees. Now, keeping your elbows set at 90, rotate the upper arms back and around, bringing the bar just under your rib cage. This rotation allows you to get into a "higher" position than a regular body drag curl, and with more weight. Here's the "magic" part... At this point, pull in your stomach and try to pull the bar through your midsection (like a magic trick), as far back towards your spine as you can. The idea is to get your elbows up and back as far as you can to maximize this unique tension on the biceps. Now, if you don't want to do the pull-in-stomach thing, you don't necessarily have to. You can just bring the EZ around until it contacts your stomach then lower it under control from there. I did find the extra inch or so did make a difference in the contraction. ** IMPORTANT ** One of the keys to this exercise is where and how you grip the EZ bar. 1. You want to grip wide enough that your hands stay outside of your body. 2. Orient the bar so that when you come around to the drag, the middle cambered part of the bar bows out, making more room for your stomach, basically. This will help you pull the bar in just a little bit more. Don't go heavy on this one, especially to start. You want focused tension on the biceps and a lot of control as you bring the bar around to the drag curl part. Trouble building your back or shoulders? I've got a full 3-week specialization program for you... Link in bio #bodydragcurls #barbellcurls #bicepcurls #ezbarcurls #gironda
