It's like the music in knights tale, obviously not historically accurate. But I like to think that by doing that, it was more meaningful than to give a historically accurate song that didn't give the same vibe to a modern audience.

The movie Alexander was not very good, but the different Greek allies in Alexander’s army had different British accents to portray the varying accents and dialects that the different Greek factions would have had at the time

As a Russian whose hobby is Russian history, I a)really appreciate they didn’t do Russian accents - if I wanted “authentic Russian” I would just watch a movie in Russian, I really don’t need an over exaggerated accent and b) obviously there were some inaccuracies for the film’s sake (the coup wasn’t done in a day), but it actually captured the spirit of the time, the idiocy of the ideology, and the absurdity of the Russian governing elite really fucking well.
