The hill I’ll die on is that juries should be made up of legal students / people already in the field & vetted individuals who have voluntarily opted in to a pool they get pulled from.

One of my sisters is a public defender and she has been for like 28 years -she’s exceptional… And one of my sisters sat on a jury of a murder trial and she was the only one that voted not guilty because she has been educated by my PD sister on reasonable doubt and all those other 11 bullied her to force a guilty verdict when the fellow jurors actually expressed that they had reasonable doubt, and my sister had to sit there and explain to them what reasonable doubt was, and had to sit there for days while the jury hung! Imagine if she hadn’t been there! Like what?!

I feel like that $10/day was decided when the rule was created and it was probably a big amount of money at that time but it hasn’t kept up with inflation and they didn’t care to change it

you absolutely do not want that. this govt is far to corrupt to have jurors as a profession

In cases that involve DV & abuse, I believe it should be *mandatory* for the jurors to be thoroughly informed in the subject and its many forms.

Literally 20 minutes ago I had to call the EMT for a man overdosed in the street. People had been walking by him for I don’t even know how long and no one had checked to see if he was all right. I don’t trust 98% of my fellow human beings to give enough of a damn about anything.

Yes I have had people on here arguing with me when I tell them no she can be found not guilty if there's reasonable doubt. They get pissed and tell me she admitted it, I try to explain you cannot take that in account they still argue and call me dumb .

And they let them go home for three days? Not sequestered? That is so wrong.

A perfect example of what you are talking about is a documentary on BBC Scotland about a murder trial of a man called David Campbell. I live in N Ireland and had never heard of this case. The jury found him guilty and I was completely shocked. There wasn’t one piece of evidence, forensic or otherwise proving his guilt. It was ALL circumstantial and based on some disagreement that the victim and Campbell had 7 years previously.

Agree completely! Just listening to some of the comments on here, who didn't even listen to the judges instructions, tells you everything!

It’s an interesting premise but I would be concerned about lobbying professional jurors

shit there was one jury member during my daughter's murder trial that kept falling asleep! they came back immediately on a Friday bc they wanted to go home with the lesser charge bc ONE JUROR didn't understand "intent". I agree with you.

yes the government needs more power, more bureaucracy, cuz the ones trained to investigate are never wrong, lets trust more state government trained/hired ppl deciding our fate. or, how about kids are taught real law from grade school on up, its probably one of the most important subjects of knowledge citizens can have

I saw comedian bring this up one time how like do you really want like Susan from McDonald’s determining your fate. Who Doesn’t even understand the information being presented or understand the legal system. The comedian said he’d rather have like people who are like that’s their job is to be a drummer of people that actually are competent
