The aircraft experienced a seized rear landing-gear brake, which prevented the affected wheel from rotating freely during the takeoff roll. The resulting drag significantly reduced the aircraft’s acceleration, making it difficult to reach the required takeoff speed. As the aircraft approached the end of the runway, the pilot had to rotate and take off. After becoming airborne, the crew dumped fuel to reduce the aircraft’s weight before returning for landing. Due to the continuous friction and heat generated by the seized brake, the affected tire became severely overheated and subsequently failed, resulting in the tire bursting.
