This year marks 94 years since this Tudor was built in 1932, and I’m only the second owner. The family who built it moved in when their daughter, Beverly, was just three years old. Her children recently shared these original photographs with me - including one taken while the house was still under construction and another of the family standing proudly in front of their brand-new home. And - who do you think is sitting in that window?? 😳 As I’ve gotten to know Beverly’s story through her children and neighbors, I’ve discovered that she loved this house deeply…and she especially loved her roses. 🌹 Every time I work in the garden or restore another piece of this home, I think about the family who cared for it before me. My goal isn’t to erase its history - it’s to honor it while thoughtfully bringing it into its next chapter. One of the first things I wanted to do was bring back the original carriage house doors you can see in these photos. Somewhere along the way they had been replaced with a garage door from the 1970s, and restoring that original character felt like giving the house a little piece of its story back. Thank you for following along as I continue restoring this beautiful old home, one project at a time. 🏡 Tudor Tuesdays are all about the renovation, history, and behind-the-scenes of this 1932 Tudor. ✨ And if you’re new here, each day has a different theme: • Monday Reset • Tudor Tuesday • Wear It Wednesday (tomorrow I’ll be sharing fashion over 50 and the pieces that help me feel confident) • House Therapy Thursday • Favorite Things Friday • Saturday Strolls • Sunday Sanctuary I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever restored an older home - or do you have any questions about this one? Tell me in the comments. XOXO, Jen #TudorTuesday #HistoricHome #HomeRestoration
