my mom has always been very male centered, growing up she tried to push being skinny and pretty and proper because 'every great women needs a man' (thankfully shes not completely traditional, she still believes women can be anything... but only if accompanied by a man) I've never been any of those things, I'm not skinny or constantly wanting to dress up and wear makeup, or kiss up to a man, I got manners but if you treat me wrong I'll lose them real quick. she's never liked that and has tried to make me change myself my whole life. constant digs about my weight, how I dress, how quick I am to get defensive and how much I push away/view anything a man says as beneath my own opinion. she wants me to be a strong women but to also need a man, she got a strong women who doesn't need anyone instead (who actually doesn't even like being called a women but that's just my little secret 🤷)

Adachi and her mom’s relationship genuinely have in a chokehold. I know lots of people hate atsuka (and for good reasons) but I would’ve love to see her redeem herself and try to have a better relationship with Adachi.

you know rewatching this and reading some comments, I'm reminded my opinion might be slightly "hot takish" Which is that I love how so many of the conflicts aren't resolved. Adachi and her mom, Tarumi, many others. A lot of conflicts don't have happy endings irl, and the author still handles them in a "complete" way. But in a way with unresolved feelings

I FULLY support the Z angst era. This is genuinely beautiful… BEAUTIFUL!! Also I love Steven Universe so that makes this even better. Your animatics are always so well made and everything looks so smooth. Adachi’s tears are so detailed and it makes her expression all the more heartbreaking. I feel like people gloss over the relationship between Adachi and her mother way too much. Definitely one of my favorite dynamics in this series. Great work again Z
