I swear, nurses love witnessing the trauma of new nurses. It’s fun and games to them when they can assign you to some fucked up shit for the first time, like a dark humiliation ritual to welcome you to the worst profession, ever.

THEY MADE ME TERMINALLY EXTUBATE on my FIRST DAY OF CLINICALS! 😅 Mind you it was my floor therapy rotation 🤣 and there was over 25 family members in the room. ( i counted not including medical staff!) scary stuff but I’m glad I got it over with early! 😏

I said “yay” to RT when they left a patient’s room with the vent, because I thought that meant the patient was extubated and breathing on their own. Until RT looked at me and said “comfort care”. I just sat there like the shittiest human being.

I’ll never forget the nursing student who held my hand during my difficult labor, was told I would prob need a c section, never had a surgery that major before, and was scared I would die on the table. She held my hand and comforted me the whole time. I hope she’s doing well and knows because of her I made it through 🥹❤️

First day in CVICU and they made me help with post💀 care on a patient that was on tons of pressors and literally had dry gangrene on all extremities. A bandage flew off one of his feet when we turned him and I screamed thinking we snapped his brittle foot. Memorable first day 🫩
