Step-by-step beginners’ guide to HEADSTANDS 🙏🏼☺️ Since I’m always being accused of not sharing beginner friendly tutorials (which is complete slander btw 😂 I have been coaching Cali for 5+ years, I know what skills are achievable and it’s not always the ones you think ♥️☺️), I thought I’d share one skill that’s always very popular amongst my students. Although it originates from other practices, the headstand in connected to crow and crane which tie in to handstands and, at the end of the day, in Calisthenics it’s all connected! 😎 If you have never tried this skill before, the elbow measuring method is perfectly easy and helps you create a solid triangle base. After a while, you won’t need this anymore as you’ll be able to estimate the distance but nobody is going to stop you if you wish to keep using it. 🙏🏼☺️ ✅ Once you have set up your tripod, remember to corkscrew your hands into the ground and keep your elbows in to engage your lats and core. ❌ Do not place hands closer to your head when you’re first learning this skill as you won’t have any counterbalance and your foundation will become smaller, meaning it will become harder to stay upright. ✅ Practice shapes that feel familiar and go at your own pace. You might wish to hold tuck or diamond shapes, pike or straddle and there are many other ways in which you can challenge yourself in the future. I will post a follow up to this in the nearer future but first, the crow and crane video before the week is over. ☺️ Happy practising and let me know if you have any questions! #headstand #crowpose #cranepose #yoga #calisthenics #calisthenicscoach #skilltutorial #calisthenicstutorial #personaltrainerlondon
