@magicmoneytips: The UK State Pension explained đŹđ§đ· Do you know how the State Pension actually works? Itâs one of the most important parts of retirement planning, but many people donât understand what theyâre entitled to. The State Pension is provided by the government once you reach your State Pension age. How much you receive depends mainly on your National Insurance record. For most people, you need at least 10 qualifying years on your National Insurance record to receive anything under the new State Pension. To receive the full new State Pension, youâll normally need 35 qualifying years. But hereâs the important bit: you donât necessarily have to work for 35 years. You can build qualifying years through employment, self-employment, National Insurance contributions, and in some circumstances, National Insurance credits. You can also potentially improve your State Pension by making voluntary National Insurance contributions if you have gaps in your record. Your State Pension age is also important. It isnât necessarily the same for everyone and is gradually changing, so you need to check when you personally become eligible. And remember, the State Pension is unlikely to be enough on its own to provide the retirement lifestyle most people want. Thatâs why itâs important to consider your workplace pension, personal pension, savings and investments alongside your State Pension. The best time to understand your retirement position is before you retire â not when you get there! Financial education starts with understanding what youâre entitled to. If youâre unsure about your State Pension or retirement planning, consider taking professional financial advice. #StatePension #RetirementPlanning #PensionAdvice #FinancialEducation #MoneyTips

I downloaded the HMRC app to check my NI contributions and Iâm in my full 34th year. The problem is that the first 2 years that theyâve recorded was when I was still at school. How have they managed that?
