Prepositions in Arabic: Seven small words that hold Arabic sentences together. مِنْ — from إِلَى — to فِي — in بِ — with / by مَعَ — with عَلَى — on / upon لِ — for / to Here’s the part most beginners miss: these are called حُرُوف الجَرّ because they pull the following noun into the majrūr state. This means the noun after them takes a kasrah. That’s not decoration it’s grammar doing visible work.
