Dentist here, I’ll explain! After finishing the treatment, you need to wear your retainer for 22 hours a day for 3 months. Then, after those 3 months you use the retainer every night. Like any orthodontic treatment, without a retainer your teeth will move cause we use them constantly. A plus of wearing the retainer every night is to have protection for those who grind!

Everything is somehow a “scam” when it comes to dentistry 😂 You spend thousands on a car and nobody calls it a scam because you have to change the oil, replace the tires, and maintain it. Invisalign is no different, retainers are maintenance, not a scam.

Babe same thing with braces. I preferred braces but understand you’ll need retainers for life. With braces or Invisalign. Your teeth always shift back.

Ideally wear the retainer at night for atleast 5-8 years then your bone retains the position. You can wear it less time. But you spent all that time and money- why not wear it nightly? It protects your teeth from wear too!

this is misinformation 1. permanent retainers exist 2. they should have told you it, it is their fault to not disclose it or yours for not listening 3. traditional metal braces also require you on retainer for the rest of your life
