The edo religion is one of the core parts of the edo belief system. This religion revolves around a supreme being Osanobua. Every divinity, deity, demi-god, and forces of good and evil are believed to be under his command and authority. The Edo people practice a form of polytheism centered on the worship of one supreme God, Osanobua, who is approached through various divinities and spiritual intermediaries. According to Edo cosmology, in the beginning of time, -Osanobua sent three of His children to earth, granting them the power of creation. After the world was formed, these three were entrusted with the most fundamental aspects of existence: life, birth, and death. Over time, other divinities emerged and were assigned specific roles and responsibilities, each serving as a medium through which the will and authority of Osanobua are expressed on earth. doctors in the edo society draw closer to Osanobua through Osun, bronze and blacksmiths through Ogun, seers through Oguega. Each of these divinities embodies the various attributes of Osanobua as it's impossible to create a temple to Osanobua that would directly mirror his omnipotence, so each of these various divinities became an indirect medium through which edo people seek the face of God. The edo religious system also believes Osanobua is more concerned in the heavenly affairs. Hence, he delegated his children and beings to earth to help us master the profession and create civilization that we are in dire need of as humans. -Olokun - god of the sea - Obiemwen - god of childbirth and agriculture - Ogiuwu - god of death, disease, and sickness. - Otor - goddess of the earth - Osun - god of medicine and magic - Eziza - god of the forest - Ogun - god of war and civilization - Ake - god of thunder - Oguega - god of wisdom - Iso - Sky, the god that holds the sky and water.
