One of the most dangerous things happening today is that people are becoming increasingly confident about Islam whilst knowing increasingly less about it. A few videos. A personal experience. Something a confident person said online. And suddenly 1,400 years of Islamic scholarship can be dismissed because it doesn’t align with how someone feels. That should concern us. Because once your emotions become the standard by which you decide what parts of Islam you accept, eventually you’re no longer submitting to Allah. You’re asking Islam to submit to you. And social media has made this incredibly easy. The algorithm will keep showing you the same ideas until something that once sounded completely foreign eventually starts sounding reasonable. This is why knowledge matters. You need to know what you believe. You need to know why you believe it. And you need people around you who aren’t afraid to tell you the truth when the rest of the world is telling you what you want to hear. But especially for the men watching this, sitting around complaining about how confused society has become achieves nothing. The question isn’t: “How bad is the world becoming?” It’s: “What kind of man am I becoming within it?” Because the more confused the world becomes, the stronger your foundations need to be. Your deen. Your character. Your discipline. Your responsibility. Your brotherhood. This is exactly what we’re trying to build through BuildU. Good Muslim men becoming stronger together and refusing to simply drift wherever the culture takes them. This Sunday, 20th September at 5pm UK time, I’m hosting a private online event bringing Muslim men together from around the world and sharing exactly what we’re building. If you’re tired of simply watching everything around you change and you’re ready to start changing yourself... Click the link in my bio and get yourself registered for the private event. The answer to a confused generation isn’t more outrage. It’s stronger Muslims.
