Born in Constantinople in 1881, he became a leading member of the Committee of Union and Progress and played a major role in the political changes of 1913. As Minister of War, he was one of the main figures behind the Ottoman Empire’s entry into World War I alongside the Central Powers. He oversaw several military campaigns, including the disastrous Sarıkamış offensive against Russia. After the war, he left the Ottoman Empire and became involved in movements in Central Asia before being killed in 1922. Wilhelm II was the last German Emperor and King of Prussia, ruling from 1888 to 1918. During his reign, Germany became a major industrial, military, and naval power. He pursued an ambitious foreign policy and supported the expansion of Germany’s navy, contributing to growing tensions between the European powers. During World War I, Wilhelm was the symbolic head of the German war effort while military leaders directed most of the actual operations.
