🌿 Herbal Spotlight: Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) Ok, it’s been a little bit since we did an herbal spotlight, so here we go!! Sometimes you choose an herb because you’ve studied it. And then sometimes you see an herb mentioned in passing, immediately think “I need that,” order it with absolutely no idea what you’re going to do with it… and let it sit on your apothecary shelf for a month until you finally decide to figure out why it caught your attention in the first place. 😂🌿 That was Agrimony. Medicinally, Agrimony has a long history in traditional Western herbalism. Its naturally tannin-rich, astringent nature has traditionally made it useful for digestive complaints, irritated tissues, minor mouth and throat inflammation, and topical herbal preparations. But Agrimony has another story. 🕯️ This is where herbal medicine meets folklore. Across its long history, Agrimony became intertwined with folklore surrounding protection, restful sleep, and warding against harmful influences. In later folk-magic traditions, it became associated with cleansing, uncrossing, protection, and reversal. And THAT was the part I didn’t know when I bought it. Apparently the instructions arrived later. 😂 I love plants like Agrimony because they remind us that herbs have never existed solely inside one little box labeled medicine. For generations, people have known plants through food, healing, folklore, ritual, story, and relationship with the land. Understanding an herb means honoring those different threads without pretending they’re all the same thing. 🌱 Bodhi Notes Agrimony found its way onto my herb shelf before I really understood it. Now I’m beginning to explore both sides of this fascinating little plant: the herbal medicine AND the folklore. And somehow, I have a feeling we’re not finished with this one yet. 👀🌿🕯️ Every plant has a story. This is one of ours. ***Herbal information shared for educational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Folk and ritual uses discussed here are historical and cultural traditions, not medical claims.*** #herbal #apothecary #wellness #folklore #WitchTok
