Imagine being born into a life that feels like a prison. Imagine being taught that your entire existence should revolve around a husband and a child — that your worth depends on how well you please them, how quietly you endure, and how much of yourself you are willing to sacrifice. And then, even the child you devoted your life to can be taken away from you. In my country, women have been given so little space to exist as human beings. We are expected to be mothers, wives, and caregivers before we are allowed to be individuals with dreams, choices, voices, and lives of our own. And now, even motherhood itself can be taken from us. How much more are women expected to lose before the world listens? Please hear our voices. Please help us be seen. And please do not let Iraqi women continue to disappear behind laws, traditions, and systems that were never built to protect them.

A new law, known as the Jaafari Personal Status Code, has been introduced in Iraq, raising serious concerns about women's rights and legal protections. We urgently appeal to women's rights organizations around the world to support Iraqi women and advocate for their rights, dignity, equality, and protection under the law. We ask the international community to listen to the voices of Iraqi women and stand with them in their pursuit of justice and equal rights. Please join us in the demonstrations
