@harvath.art: 3 artists of famous book covers 📖 Number 1 is John Rocco He illustrated the Percy Jackson books, and his art is such a core childhood memory for me Now, he starts his illustrations with pencil to get the basic layout down, and then he finishes the cover in a digital art program. He’s actually done a lot of the cover work for Rick Riordan, including Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase, and the Trials of Apollo. Number two are Tim Green and Mark Seekins Now, Game of Thrones has a lot of different cover artists, but two years ago they released a box set with covers made my these two artists. The cool thing about these is they’re made with linocut. That means, after Tim finished the design, Mark carved an ink stamp out of linoleum, pressed it into the paper, and then did that with every color on the cover for all five books. And last is Mary GrandPré She illustrated the US edition of the Harry Potter series. And she actually used pastels for the covers. They’re kind of these chalky crayons, and they give the drawing this very soft texture. That and the bright colors are what make the covers for Harry Potter feel so whimsical.
