Another reason, though less common: when someone travels, they cover their car to keep it safe and clean from birds and cats. And the third reason the one that has made most people cover their cars lately is sandstorms, to protect the car from dust, sand, and dirt.

Birds, sand, cats… etc. when these stray animals see a clean car they either shit on it or make it dirty one way or another so what they do the people who cares about their cars a lot they cover them with this plastic cover
