@deltasurvivalschool: This is not “the way” to escape zip ties. It is one situation, one restraint position, and one skill within a much larger framework. Yes, in many real-world abduction scenarios, restraints may be applied behind the back or in other positions that make escape significantly more difficult. But training has to start somewhere. You don’t begin with the most complex scenario. You first learn the mechanics under controlled conditions, understand why the method works, and then progressively introduce harder variables: different restraint positions, limited movement, stress, time pressure, reduced access to tools, and other complications. This shoelace method is one of those foundational lessons for a situation where the hands are restrained in front. It was also one of the first restraint-escape methods I was taught during my military training before progressing to more difficult problems. The objective is not to memorize one “trick.” It is to understand the principles, develop problem-solving capability, and then learn to apply them across different scenarios. Train the principle. Then increase the problem.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll make sure that if we ever need to use zip ties, we’ll just get proper handcuffs instead. 😂

Just before I get taken I’m going to ask if I can change my sandals to shoes with laces. Tell them I need to be comfy for the trip. 😂
