@pinoyextreme2: “Kasalanan ng system.” Yes. Kung hindi sumasagot ang 911, mabagal ang dispatch, o kulang ang kagamitan, dapat nating kuwestiyunin ang system. Pero may isang uncomfortable question: Ano ang ambag natin sa system na nirereklamo natin? 911 is an emergency resource. Kapag ginagamit natin ito para sa prank calls, pang-trip, o fake emergencies, hindi lang oras ang sinasayang natin. Kinukuha natin ang attention at resources na dapat napupunta sa totoong emergency. Imagine someone is having a heart attack while an emergency operator is dealing with a prank call. Tapos kapag dumating ang araw na kailangan natin ng tulong at mabagal ang response, sasabihin natin: “Bulok kasi ang system.” Maybe. Pero kailangan din nating itanong: Hindi ba tayo bahagi ng system? The government has a responsibility to build a reliable emergency response system. The dispatcher has a responsibility to respond properly. The ambulance crew has a responsibility to be prepared. And the citizen has a responsibility not to abuse the service. DILG itself is currently emphasizing the proper and responsible use of Unified 911 because emergency resources need to remain available for people with genuine emergencies. (ncr.dilg.gov.ph) Kaya hindi ito argument na “wag sisihin ang gobyerno.” It’s an argument for both accountability and personal responsibility. Demand a better 911 system. But don’t be the reason someone else’s 911 call gets delayed.
