@drdavidabbasi: Her body completely gave out on court, and the rules wouldn't let anyone help her. 😳 Muscle cramps like this happen when a muscle involuntarily and often painfully contracts and won't release. During intense, prolonged exercise, especially in heat, this is usually driven by a combination of dehydration, electrolyte imbalances (particularly sodium, potassium, and magnesium), and sheer neuromuscular fatigue after hours of repetitive, high-intensity movement. Here's the part that shocks most people watching: under the Grand Slam rulebook, a player can only receive treatment for muscle cramping during a changeover or set break, not through a Medical Time-Out. That means if cramps hit mid-point, like they did here, the player has to fight through it completely on her own until the next natural break in play, no matter how severe it looks. Physiologically, once a muscle is in this state, simply willing it to relax often isn't enough. The body needs rehydration, electrolyte replacement, and usually some form of stretching or massage to actually break the cramp cycle, none of which she was allowed to receive in that moment. It's a brutal reminder that professional athletes are often fighting their own bodies just as much as their opponent, sometimes with the rules working against them too. 💦 ✅Follow @drdavidabbasi for More Daily Medical Content & Health Tips! 📍Schedule a consultation in Delray Beach! that's ridiculous!!! if a player is in need of medical help, they need ro be there for them!! Even if it is a cramp, there should be a therapist ready to relax the muscle!! that rule is absolutely unacceptable.

I’ve seen almost the exact same thing when a Soldier was about 200m from the finish line of a 12 mile march, got delirious from dehydration trying to get his EIB. Nobody could help or his award would be done. After passing out then the Medics were allowed to help.

Probably because the person who could help her was a man, who would get sued for helping her.
