@jacobdoesmoney2: Starter ETF guide I wish I had at birth. Save this as your cheat sheet. Three notes on the list. QQQM is on here instead of QQQ because it's the same 107 companies for 15 cents per $100 instead of 20. VT is the whole world in one ticker, 10,144 companies, and it's the closest thing to a one fund portfolio that exists. And JEPQ is the only options income fund on here on purpose, because that income gets taxed every year whether you spend it or not. Follow to join the top 1% 💪
How can I start trading? I'm trying to buy stocks, but I don't know which ones to get into.

Mutual Funds and ETF funds receive cash dividends from the stock companies that are in the funds. They are accumulated within the fund and held as cash. Periodically the funds issue cash dividends that are received as cash by your brokerage house, ie Vanguard, Fidelity, etc. It’s your option to have those reinvested so the brokerage house will automatically buy shares of the issuing fund. You can also hold them as cash. The ex-dividend date for a mutual fund is the day the fund's share price (Net Asset Value or NAV) drops by the amount of the payout. If you buy shares on or after this date, you do not get the upcoming dividend. Your holdings in the funds do not increase when you receive the dividend because of this, they are reflected in the share price when the fund receives the dividend stock company. This is an ongoing process and is never really seen by the investor. Capital Gains distributions work the same way.
