The reason ff13 upholds so well is because Square Enix invested a lot of money in their own game engine. This game engine was called the Crystal/luminous Tool engine, it was custom made and explicitly engineered to make the game’s characters look as striking and movie like as possible. In newer games they use Unreal engine, which is made as an all rounder and not specifically for Final Fantasy games in mind ;)

Run 13 natively without upscale and mods then compare. It’s now a fair comparison. Should be original spec vs. Original specs not upscaled mod specs vs original specs
