A toddler should never be responsible for something like this. Then the coerced hug after. The therapy those kids will need!

So let me get this straight. The young kids shouldn’t learn to help retrieve this mother’s breathing tube if it was to fall and just let her possibly die, because retrieving it makes them caregivers? Yall are ridiculous. Yes, they shouldn’t be caregivers. But also YES… THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO LEARN! Their mother has a disability whether you guys like it or not. If they are alone in a room with her for five minutes and the tube falls out and it’s out of reach, it’s imperative that they know to pick it up and give it back to their mum. Because the alternative is that they watch her die quite frankly. Not every family situation is the same. And picking up a breathing tube doesn’t make you a caregiver.

as a disabled wheelchair user that comment is absolutely correct. your children should not be responsible for that.

This isn’t right that’s way too much pressure and responsibility for a child.

Raising kids to be free caregivers is crazy.

my mom has had mobility issues since I was born, so as a kid I'd pick stuff up, open doors, bring her things, etc. it was easy for me and I felt good being helpful to her. Never felt like I HAD to be her caregiver, I was just a girl helping her mama 🩷

These comments are wild. She’s doing an easy favor for mom by picking something up for her.

As a child that grew up as a partial caregiver to a parent, this is completely out of line. They should have ZERO responsibility for YOU. YOUR responsibility is them, not the other way around.

I hate it here :
different families have different dynamics. she helps her mom put in her breathing tube and you helped your mom bring in groceries. the people in the comment section are so wild to me. a lot of your moms made you do stuff like cleaning, babysitting your younger siblings, etc but bc this woman is disabled and the child helps with her disabilities she’s a caregiver and not just a loving daughter?

I hope those kids grow up one day and make the choice they want without shame. My parents expect me to be their caregiver. Should've made better choices in life cause I didn't sign up to be a nurse for you

Damn, I can’t believe the amount of people acting like this little girl is responsible for Mom’s complete care. All she did was help her and she wasn’t even told to help…
