HEAR ME OUT..... imagine Ronova being a weekly boss, and ALL PLAYABLE CHARACTERS has this red soul stuff in the game which means at some point of the boss combat, Ronova simply just takes away the life force of your current on field character (basically draining their hp). Revival food, and C6 Barbara and Qiqi's resurrection cannot be triggered here since your characters are not totally dead, you only have to do something to trigger a mechanic to get back your character's life force and be able to use them again. The longer you fight and fail to resurrect a fallen character, Ronova basically strips you off of characters in the team one by one, until you have nothing left. You can prevent your "life force" drained via some usual boss mechanic like filling up a bar with attacks (similar to Pyro Sovereign and Sumeru Dottore boss) or break something to trigger a shield/immunity (Raiden boss).
