@boosthoughts: One of the things I wish more people understood about BPD is that self-destructive behaviour doesn’t always look like visible self-harm. Sometimes it looks like spending money you don’t have, taking unnecessary risks, using substances to escape your thoughts, sabotaging relationships, pushing people away, neglecting yourself or making impulsive decisions you deeply regret afterwards. And sometimes you don’t even realise you’re hurting yourself until you’re out of the emotional storm and left dealing with the consequences. Not every struggle leaves a physical mark. Sometimes the damage is invisible; but that doesn’t make it any less real. This isn’t to say that every impulsive behaviour is automatically “self-harm”, but for some people with BPD, these behaviours can become ways of coping with overwhelming emotions, emptiness, anger or distress. There are so many sides of BPD that people never see🩷 #BPD #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder #BPDawareness #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealth
