Ancient imperial China was already a multi-ethnic, core-majority Huaxia-Han civilization and population. All successive dynasties in imperial China, regardless of Han or non-Han royal houses, were legitimate and orthodox imperial Chinese dynasties, part of the line of dynastic transition through the Mandate of Heaven and Zhonghua traditions. All major imperial Chinese dynasties for over 4,000 years operated and governed under Huaxia-Zhonghua traditions, Han Chinese imperial statecraft, institutions, and political frameworks, with dynastic governments and militaries composed of an overwhelming majority of Han Chinese officials, generals, and soldiers during their reigns. They all relied heavily on massive, vast-majority Han Chinese military forces and elite participation and support for their establishment, including the Yuan and Qing. All identified as imperial China and the Zhongguo polity and imperial Chinese state, all claimed to be successors of previous Chinese dynasties and continuity of the Zhonghua-Huaxia Han Chinese civilization and culture.

in turkic circles, tang dynasty isnt seen as steppe or culturally close, it is definitively "chinese", and a rival to the nomads

I really don't think European fascination with yuan dynasty has anything to do with similarities with HRE. the simple truth is that yuan dynasty is the first dynasty Europeans made contact with, and the first we have extensive travel diaries and contemporary histories, greatest example being Marco polo

And the Han dynasty is also not particularly celebrated in China today because it’s eerie similarity of its first 100 years with the history of the PRC, anyone familiar with history will know what I am talking about

Yuan dynasty, Yuan China, was not part of the fragmented Mongol Empire which had already broken apart into four independent sovereign states. Yuan China was a sovereign Zhongguo China state and Chinese polity. Both Yuan and Qing were Chinese dynasties successors of previous Chinese dynasties under the Mandate of Heaven established with overwhelmingly majority Han Chinese military forces and elites support and participation ruled and operated under the Han Chinese imperial political statecraft and institutional system of Zhonghua traditions, remained as Zhongguo China state and Chinese polity. Thought their reigns, its governments and militaries remained overwhelmingly majority composed of Han Chinese officials generals and soldiers who were the backbone of administration, military affairs and territorial expansion.

Both the first and second golden ages of imperial China and Chinese civilization during the superpower Han and Tang Chinese dynasties were also famously remembered as having crushed, conquered, and defeated powerful steppe nomadic powers such as the Xiongnu Confederation and, later, both Turkic Khaganates.

China is such an interesting country, and it’s come so far in such a short period. It has its problems, but so does every nation. Eventually it’ll be sorted, it’s only a matter of time…

I am interested do you have a background/degree in political science, history, sociology, or all the above? I ask because this is a great visual primer about truth construction that justifies certain world views using history.

Interestingly for me my interests mainly harbour in the tang and song dynasties as I love the video game CK3. it's most recent DLC was a huge expansion of the map to include the rest of Asia with China being for sure one of the more interesting areas as we play either at the end of the tang dynasty, the end of the song dynasty or in the middle of the song dynasty where it's quite stable. So you have many different stories you can tell and roles to play in an alternative Chinese history
