I would argue about the swinging, yes you'd have more momentum but I highly doubt you'd have much control over the swing without a LOT of muscle behind it in the wrists/forearms. If you hit something you'd want to hope you cut through or you are screwed and you'll feel the jolt of that like a mf. I work in a factory and have to bring metal tubes and stand them, they are about 7m long and probably 15/25 kg depending on the tube.
Most blokes that I've seen drop them are carrying with that first/top grip. The second grip gives more leverage and control as you have two ways of moving/holding the blade while maintaining control, the swing is always going to use momentum. (I'm looking at this as an oversized sword like Guts sword.)
I do invite people to experiment WITH COMMON SENSE to try lifting a 30kg 2m long object (or lighter but heavy shows the difference more) from one side in both grips, just please be careful and test the weight before committing as you could throw your back out if you're stupid with it and do it away from people as you could actually kill someone.
I hope this helps someone and please be safe and smart about testing.
