Lisa took the stairs two at a time, her boots echoing against the wood. Reaching the landing, she pushed open the apartment door—and stopped. The room smelled of warm sugar, cinnamon, and fresh strawberries. Jennie sat at the tiny kitchen table with her legs tucked beneath her, casually scrolling through her phone. A large thermal bag sat open beside neatly packed breakfast boxes and a bottle of orange juice. The door shut behind Lisa. Jennie looked up, her face instantly lighting up.
"You're back!" She jumped to her feet, smoothing her oversized yellow sweater. "Mingyu said you'd be gone longer. Perfect timing—I brought pancake breakfast!" Lisa remained by the doorway, her shopping bag hanging at her side. Her gaze shifted from Jennie to the food, then to the spare master key on the counter. "Who gave you the key?" "Mingyu." Jennie answered without hesitation. "Are you mad? I can leave if you want. I just wanted to make sure you actually ate today after missing breakfast yesterday." Lisa met Jennie's honest eyes. The anger she should have felt disappeared. She stepped inside and set her shopping bag down. "I'm not mad," she said quietly. "But they shouldn't have given you the key. It's a safety issue." Jennie smiled. "I'm not dangerous. Unless my cooking counts." She pointed toward the table. "Come on. The pancakes are still warm." Instead of sitting, Lisa reached into her jacket pocket. Her fingers closed around the small plush she'd bought earlier. She held it out. A tiny capybara keychain wearing a little green bucket hat dangled between them. Jennie's eyes widened. "Oh my god! Is that for me?" Lisa looked away, hiding the faint pink creeping into her ears. "I saw it. You wear capybara socks..And I overheard you talking to Jisoo that you like them, so I thought it belonged on your keys." Before Lisa could fully hand it over, Jennie rushed forward. In one quick motion, she kissed Lisa's cheek and hug her. Lisa froze. Every muscle locked in place as warmth spread across her face. "You are officially the sweetest mechanic ever!" Jennie squealed, hugging the keychain like a treasure. "I don't care what Mingyu says. You were thinking about me!" Lisa slowly raised a hand to her cheek. Her heartbeat thundered in her ears. She tried to rebuild her usual calm expression, but the tips of her ears burned bright red. "It was on the discount rack," she muttered, turning toward the refrigerator. "It was cheap so I bought it anyways." "I don't care if it cost one cent." Jennie happily clipped the capybara onto her keys. "I'm never taking it off. They ate breakfast together in a strangely quiet atmosphere. Lisa focused entirely on her pancakes, carefully avoiding Jennie's lips, while Jennie cheerfully talked about her week. When they finished, Jennie packed the empty containers with a satisfied smile. "I should let you enjoy the rest of your day off." She held up the little capybara. "Thanks for breakfast, Lisa. And thanks for my baby." "Drive safely." Lisa walked her to the door, holding onto her composure. "I always do." Jennie waved before disappearing down the wooden stairs. Lisa remained at the landing until the downstairs door clicked shut. She wandered back into the kitchen, absentmindedly touching the spot on her cheek where Jennie had kissed her. Then her phone buzzed. A message from Rosé. Rosé: Lisa, come downstairs. Now. Lisa frowned and typed back. Lisa: What's wrong? Car trouble? The reply came instantly. Rosé: No. Jennie's still outside. A guy just pulled up in a ridiculously expensive sports car. She ran over and hugged him. Mingyu says they look really close. You should probably see this. Lisa's grip tightened until her phone creaked. The warmth from Jennie's kiss vanished, replaced by something cold and painfully heavy. Without a word, she turned and headed for the stairs, her expression unreadable—but her eyes burned with dangerous intensity. #jenlisa #jenlisaau #jenlisa_story #lisa #jennie
