Not sure where you’ve been looking but there’s a website called furnished finder for short term rentals. It’s typically for healthcare workers so they’re much more flexible with animals.

Someone else said it but YES- have the cats get ESA certified- I did this with both of mine and they can then live anywhere with no added fees too. They can’t say no

Minnesota is a base. I did the same with my hometown. I moved to a big city for 12 years, travelled, went back to home town. It wasn’t the right time so I moved abroad for 10 years. I came back to my home town and now it’s the right time. It was always a reset back at my parents while I decided the next step. We’re lucky to have that! Now I’m back in my home town and appreciate it so much more. I’m happy to be home and also spending time with the parents now they’re elderly

As someone who lives in New England with a cat and a dog, you can find housing for you and two cats. You have to just actually ask the listings that advertise no cats. My last apartment advertised no cats they are just trying to filter out most people with pets.
