@larrygmaguire: Claude is great, Claude code and Claude desktop. However, when you use their harness you are restricted to their models. There’s no other option if you use Claude desktop you’re simply stuck with fable, opus, sonnet, and haiku. With cloud code you have options. With VS code you arguably have more options. Use local models for highly sensitive work that needs to stay on your machine, use cheaper models via Ollama inside cloud code itself or through the agent chat window in VS code. You have so many options and you can switch between them really easily. I’m gonna show you my set up tomorrow in a full length video so if you wanna get that hit subscribe and Lincon bio to join my community. #ai #aitraining #LLMs #learnai #sme
Gemini is dope, openAI are decent, kimi is smooth and very effecient, deepseek with new harness feature is absolutely something good, hermus are crushing it

Had problems with local models and tool calls. You need a dam good graphics and ram. Ram is through the roof on price too. Your folder system would be brilliant for local models. I have to set loads of commands to get it working right. In LLM Studio you can set parameters for your graphics but needs setting in codex local or it won’t work properly.

Use the open-source deepseek agent harness. Plugin framework that can pull in any LLM. https://github.com/deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness

you could use opencode in the terminal for others (besides claude and codex). VS code with many worktrees eats quite resources in my experience. Other than that; custom mcp, make cloud storage the truth for skills/instructions, sync on login/startup of app (OS dependent). Works with multiple machines. It’s an investment but it’s worth it imho.

You can just use Pi. It's the best harness right now easily. Can oauth with chatgpt, claude, and use all the other models through APIs.

What about using Hermes agent desktop app with any of the models you mention

I've been using Claude code in the desktop app, but is Vs code easy to setup? Does Claude code behave the same here as it does in the desktop app? And does it have live browser capability the same way Claude desktop does? oh also what do you think of anti-gravity instead? Cheers

That's so interesting. It's primarily for programming isn't it though?
I have codex and Claude code desktop apps open in the same project folder and I copy and paste "I showed this to Claude and..*

You want multiple harnesses working together claude code, codex, hermes, gemini and more Its not about the model anymore is which harness is better. But you can use them all together which is what I do.

Having a vps server to store everything from blockchain passwords to stripe or PayPal. Is safer than just having on your machine. You have more control with vs code.

For a project, create vendor agnostic documentation and a documentation router agents.md. Convert Claude skills and agents into playbooks. Gate Claude with hooks from using project memory, everything must be in docs.
