we started the bug problem they cyborgs didn't want to be apart of the federation of super Earth so we enslaved them the illumate originally reached out to us with a peace treaty but had superior technology so we attacked them. literally we started everything

Technically because of the actual lore, the humans are the bad guys in the war vs the illuminate. The Illuminate came to humanity for an alliance and offered the cure to cancer as a peace offering and in return humanity got greedy and wiped out 99% of the Illuminate population. So what we see now is them fighting back just to survive and preserver their species.
