@_dove99: Miu had known attending her ex-girlfriend wedding was a bad idea from the moment the invitation arrived. She had stared at it for nearly ten minutes before finally opening it. They had been broken up for over three years. There was no bad blood between them. No dramatic betrayal or horrible argument. They had simply reached a point where they wanted different things and eventually admitted that loving each other wasn't enough to make the relationship work. They had stayed friendly. Friendly enough, apparently, for Miu to receive a wedding invitation. At first, she wasn't going to attend. Then she decided that was childish. She was over the relationship. Her ex had moved on and found someone she wanted to spend her life with and Miu was genuinely happy for her. She could be mature. She could attend a wedding. She could smile, congratulate the happy couple, drink some free champagne and go home. Easy. That confidence lasted until she walked into the venue alone. The ceremony itself was beautiful. Miu smiled when she was supposed to smile. She clapped with everyone else. She even managed not to feel particularly strange when her ex said her vows. It was the reception that became unbearable. Apparently, being a single woman at a wedding made her public property. The first comment came from some family member that Miu vaguely remembered meeting years ago. “Still single?” Miu smiled politely. “Still single.” “You'll find someone.” “Thanks.” Miu hadn't actually said she was worried about it. Twenty minutes later, an older woman cornered her beside the drinks table. “No date?” “No.” “Such a shame. Pretty girl like you.” Miu smiled through gritted teeth. “Apparently.” Then came the third. “You know, weddings are the best place to meet someone.” Miu looked around the room. “Is that right?” “Absolutely.” “I'll keep an eye out.” By the fourth, she was considering hiding in the toilets until dinner. The fifth happened while Miu was standing beside her table with a glass of champagne. A woman she knew through her ex's family smiled sympathetically at her. “It must be difficult.” Miu frowned. “What must?” “Being here alone.” There it was…again. Miu took a long drink. “I'm fine.” “Of course. I just mean with your ex getting married and you still being single.” Miu wondered if throwing champagne at a wedding guest would be considered inappropriate…probably…maybe. She forced another smile. “I'm actually…” “There you are.” An arm suddenly slipped around Miu's waist. Miu froze as a tall, beautiful woman appeared beside her and smiled warmly. “I've been looking everywhere for you.” Miu stared at her. “Sorry to interrupt, I'm Lena.” The woman smiled in return. “Miu didn't mention she brought someone.” “Oh, she didn't.” Miu's eyes widened and Lena squeezed her waist. “I'm her girlfriend.” Miu nearly inhaled her champagne. The woman looked delighted. “Oh!” Miu turned towards Lena. Lena smiled at her as though this was completely normal. “It's new.” Lena explained. “Very new.” Miu managed. Lena nodded. “We're still getting used to saying girlfriend.” "Extremely new." The woman laughed. “How did you two meet?” Lena didn't hesitate. “Through friends.” “Right.” Miu agreed. “And we actually had no idea we'd both be here today. We’re not at the stage of knowing each other’s schedule yet.” Lena looked at Miu. “She told me she had an event.” Miu finally caught up. “And Lena said she also had plans.” "We realised when we saw each other outside. I turned the corner and thought, I know that beautiful woman.” Lena winks. The woman clasped her hands together. “That's so romantic!” “Isn't it?” Lena said. Miu looked at her. Lena's eyes were sparkling with amusement. Miu wanted to laugh. Instead, she slipped her own arm around Lena's waist. “Very romantic.” The woman finally left them with a cheerful congratulations. Miu waited until she was out of hearing distance. Then she turned. “What the hell was that?” CONTINUATION IN COMMENTS ⬇️ #lenamiu #ThaiGL #wlw

FINAL PART 3️⃣ An hour later, Miu was alone at the bar waiting for another drink when someone stepped beside her. “Hey.” Miu turned. Her ex Fai smiled. “Hi.” Miu smiled genuinely. “Beautiful wedding.” “Thank you.” “You look happy.” “I am.” Miu smiled. “I'm glad.” Her ex smiled back and glanced across the room. “I didn't know you knew Lena.” Miu almost laughed. “Yeah. It's really new.” “How new?” Miu hesitated. “Very.” Her ex raised an eyebrow. Miu smiled. “I actually didn't know she'd be here. I knew she had plans today, but neither of us realised we were coming to the same wedding.” Technically, none of that was a lie. “Small world.” “Very.” Her ex looked across the room again. “I'm happy for you.” Miu couldn’t help the smile that come across her face. “Thank you.” “You two look good together.” Miu automatically turned. Lena was across the reception room talking to a group of people. Someone said something that made her laugh and Miu watched her head tip back. She thought about Lena appearing beside her earlier. The arm around her waist…dinner…dancing…sitting together outside…holding hands on the way back in. A smile slowly spread across Miu's face. “Yeah.” Miu said softly. She watched Lena for another second. “We do.” Her ex squeezed her arm before returning to her new wife. Miu remained at the bar, her eyes still on Lena. When the bartender placed her drink down she picked it up and walked across the room. Lena spotted her approaching. “There she is.” Miu stopped beside her. Lena automatically slipped an arm around her waist. It didn't feel fake anymore. Miu looked at her. “Hey, girlfriend.” Lena laughed. “Still keeping this going?” Miu took a sip of her drink. “Actually, I was thinking.” “Careful.” Miu nudged her. “Are you busy after this?” Lena's expression changed. “No.” “Want to get a drink somewhere?” “We've been drinking for hours.” “I mean somewhere else.” Miu mumbles. Lena looked at her for a moment. “A date?” Miu felt herself blush. “A real one this time.” Lena smiled. “I'd like that.” “Good.” Miu moved closer beneath Lena's arm. This time, there was no need to pretend.

PART 1️⃣ Lena immediately removed her arm. “Sorry.” She winced and Miu started laughing. “I heard her asking why you were single.” “You heard that?” “I've heard about three different people ask you tonight.” “Five.” Lena winced. “That's worse.” Miu looked towards the woman disappearing into the crowd. “So your solution was to become my girlfriend?” “It seemed easier than murder.” She shrugged. Miu laughed again. “Thank you.” “You're very welcome. And nice to meet you by the way.” Lena hold out her hand. Miu shakes Lena’s hand. “You too and thanks for the help.” Lena picked up her drink with a nod. “I'll leave you be now.” Miu looked around the room. Then back at Lena. “Wait.” Lena stopped. “If you disappear immediately, that's going to look suspicious.” A smile slowly appeared on Lena's face. “Good point.” “You should probably stay close.” “How close?” Lena asked with a raised brow. Miu smiled. “Don't get carried away.” Lena laughed and they went back to the table together. For the next hour, the joke became increasingly elaborate. Lena managed to swap seats with someone and sit beside Miu during dinner. When someone asked how long they'd been together, Miu said two weeks. Lena said three. They argued about it until Miu eventually decided they'd had their first date three weeks ago but hadn't officially become girlfriends until the following week. Lena seemed impressed. “Good save.” Lena mumbled. “I'm committed now.” Lena grinned. “To me?” “To the lie.” Miu tutted. Lena placed a hand over her heart. “That hurts.” Miu laughed and she realised she was doing that a lot tonight. When the music started after dinner, Lena held out her hand. Miu looked at it. “What?” “We're girlfriends.” “So?” “Girlfriends dance together.” Miu narrowed her eyes but took her hand. “Fine.” They joined everyone else. At first, Miu was very aware that they were pretending as Lena's hand rested carefully against her waist. Miu's arms settled around Lena's shoulders. They kept a polite distance. Then Lena made some stupid comment about one of the decorations looking like a giant onion and Miu laughed and moved closer without thinking.

PART 2️⃣ They danced through three songs. When a slower one started, Miu expected Lena to step away. Instead Lena's hand moved slightly around her waist. “Still okay?” Lena asked quietly. Miu nodded. “Yeah.” She rested her head against Lena's shoulder as they continued moving slowly with the music. Miu realised halfway through the song that nobody was watching them, they didn't need to pretend but she didn't move away. Later, they escaped outside with two glasses of champagne. The evening air was cooler and they found a bench overlooking the gardens. Miu sat beside Lena. “You're a very convincing fake girlfriend.” Lena smiled. “I've been giving it my best.” “Should I be worried?” “Maybe I'm secretly an actress.” “You're not.” “How do you know?” “You told me earlier you worked with Fai’s wife and she doesn’t work in the entertainment industry.” “Right.” Lena huffs. Miu smiled. A comfortable silence settled between them as they watched the sunset. Then Lena glanced at her. “Are you okay?” “Yeah.” “I mean with today.” Miu knew what she meant. She looked through the windows towards the reception. “I thought it would hurt more.” “Does it hurt?” “A little.” Lena nodded. Miu appreciated that she didn't immediately tell her that was normal or try to make her feel better. “It's strange.” Miu continued. “I don't want her back. I haven't wanted her back for a long time. But watching someone you once thought you'd marry actually marry somebody else…” “That's got to feel weird.” “Very, but I’m happy for her.” Miu took another drink. "Then everyone keeps looking at me like I'm some tragic abandoned ex-girlfriend.” Lena smiled slightly. “Not anymore.” Miu looked at her. “No. Apparently I've made an impressive recovery.” "Extremely impressive." Lena winked. Miu laughed and their eyes met. Neither looked away immediately. Something had definitely changed. “Come on.” Lena eventually said “Where?” “I think they're cutting the cake and I have one hell of a sweet tooth.” The pair stood and without thinking Miu reached for her hand. Their fingers intertwined. Miu almost let go but Lena's fingers tightened. So Miu kept holding on
