My son came home everyday saying how much he loved his day and loves school. We’re one month into the new school year as a 1st grader and he comes home saying how boring it is, how they don’t get to do anything fun all day, and how much he h8tes school now. It made me so so so sad.

my kids go to a waldorf school and kinder is magical there. I wish all schools would focus on play based learning for early school years.

These schools are now only preparing students to TAKE STATE TEST TEST TEST and more TEST🥺 It makes me so sad. They are also teaching lessons so FAST. I’m sick of it!! 😭

They're setting many of the kids up for failure. Play based learning is paramount. BS on no kid left behind. This is how kids start getting passed on to the next grade. Also, it's all smoke and mirrors. Schools, principals and teachers no it's all wrong. But God forbid the School, teachers or principals get a negative grade. It's all absurd.

My son just started Kinder. He has to do 4 pages of homework every day….I want to put him in sports after school but I honestly don’t know how to make it work without burning him out 🥴…

As a language acquisition specialist, the most important thing to do with your little one is build CONTEXT. How can they read a book about a farm if they have never been to a farm? You teach them to spell “cat” but they don’t know what a cat feels like. They need something concrete to attach these abstract skills to.

What’s happening is America is conditioning these little kids to be corporate employees. All schools do is push to pass standardize tests. They learn nothing worth retaining in my opinion. That’s why I make it a point to teach my kids. My 4 year old is learning cursive but he’s also playing nonstop. I hate public schools. They’re literally babies.

Thank you for sharing this! My Husband♥️and I decided to pull my daughter in the middle of the school year last year when she was in third grade. Listening to you explain the things that you are explaining I really making sense when it comes to the things you noticed, my daughter struggling with in third grade and now in fourth grade at times. It definitely feels like we are playing catch-up, and the gaps in her education are obvious now that I am homeschooling her.

It is not developmentally appropriate for them and it one of the reasons why there are so many behaviors. Even as a first grade teacher I feel we were not allowed to incorporate much play into the classroom. It was very textbook testing textbook testing testing.

I remember when school wasn’t fun anymore and it was in the first grade. In kindergarten we did a lot of play but once 1st grade came it was like everything went grey. We had to sit all day with a little bit of outside play.

Kindergarten is NOT how it used to be ! My oldest 2 boys do virtual & my second oldest was in kindergarten last year and it was just not it! They push soooo much to them and gave them way too much work.

Classrooms are also using tablets for their students during class time. I am one of those parents that can’t stand tablets for children. I don’t want my children to be zombies, I want them to be able to think on their own, be kids & absorb the world around them. First year homeschooling & im noticing so many things in my oldest (2nd grader) that I know for sure she learned from public school the last 3 years she attended.
