I had this same table with chairs outside and the chairs after one summer they ripped apart because the water destroyed the woven part , i would cover them with a cover like the ones from the grill .

Rope may not last well on the roof . Plants that do ok on the roof sedums mandevela . Palm trees the small ones homedepot. But deeply planted with support. Herbs just make sure nothing that will go flying
