The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) itself lists WhatsApp as a contact channel, which strongly indicates WhatsApp is not generally banned. 2️⃣ TikTok: I found no evidence of a nationwide TikTok ban for everyone. However, Oman has been working on regulations concerning children’s access to social-media platforms, including a proposal concerning people under 16. 3️⃣ Betting/gambling platforms: These are a different situation. Online gambling/betting is not generally licensed as a normal legal activity in Oman, so betting websites/apps can be blocked or made inaccessible. This should not be confused with a new ban on WhatsApp or TikTok.
