@sir_patricktv: #nlng, fyp Yesterday at the plant, we witnessed an unusually intense flaring event. The flames were extremely high, and the noise was loud enough to be noticed from a distance. 🔥 Shortly afterward, all workers were instructed to evacuate the plant. When the flare suddenly burns this high and the whole plant gets unusually loud, you know something is definitely happening. I’m still curious to know what actually happened. 👀🔥
Oga, nothing is happening it’s a liquid carryover either due to emergency S/D or some error

This is a carryover. It occurs due to so many reasons ;when the liquid level in the separator is high, slugging, pressure change, foaming, excess demulsifier etc…..

There was an Electrical Power Surge, so the Trains went down. The processes had to be flared out, to avoid explosions. The situation was controlled adequately.

My own rig had an incident like this before. The wellhead actually burst, and because we were operating in deep water, it resulted in a gas leak. The situation became extremely serious, and all crew members had to evacuate the rig using the life boat. we where about 120 personnels onboard the rig.
Keep in mind, this was a jack-up rig, which made the situation even more challenging. Offshore work comes with a lot of risks that people onshore may never fully understand. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely

I think it’s a carryover…. The oil went through the gas line

Most likely upset in the plant system, passing prv, plant trip, sulphuric acid found and it's been discharged.

what stop shutting down all high pressure wells or throttle down their chokes and arrest the situation due to escape of vapour from the compressors or turbine power surge which may be the case, anyway each plant it's peculiarity of this occurrence possible factors

There was an electrical issue at one of the Gas turbine which tripped all 5 trains. From train 1,2,3,5, 6 went down causing the high flare. Train 4 is on shutdown mode.
its called pessure relief or emergency shutdown (ESD), If a process upset, equipment failure, or sudden operational imbalance occurs, the plant's automated safety systems route large volumes of gas to the flare stack to prevent catastrophic over-pressurization or explosion.

This is serious Carry over from the Knockout vessel directly to the Flare, it might be as result of Access crude in the Flare line because your Vessels are filled up and you pump is not pushing to the maximum efficiency

there is nothing wrong
if there is a trip this could occur and it can be regulated from the control room, while at the field some wells could as well be closed especially the HP wells,
